Axis 360 deals with 2 main file types…Blio (XPS) and EPUB.
Blio, or XPS files, can only be read in the Blio app. Blio is our primary downloadable eReader App, and is compatible with OS-based devices that support downloads/installations of third party applications or programs. For example, if you want Angry Birds, you have to download it to your device from the app store. Many dedicated reader devices like the Kindle reader, unfortunately don’t support this kind of activity, for any eReader App. And if they do, again, many of their operating systems don’t support the activity needed within the Blio reader, or the level of richness that Blio titles require. This is something that is a device issue, not Blio or B&T.
With that said, new readers and reader features and capabilities are evolving and redeveloping, ALL the time. So always check if any uncertainty arises about a particular device.
The Kindle FIRE and FIRE HD is however, Axis 360 compatible, and can install the Blio app. (See your librarian or contact Axis 360 Support for specific details.)
Then finally, the issue of EPUB titles comes in…and yes, EPUB files are readable on the Kindle. But not ANY EPUB file…only either native or Amazon-approved EPUB files. The EPUB files you borrow in Axis 360 are not a part of Amazon’s proprietary inclusion…they contain Adobe DRM and must be read on either Adobe Digital Editions or on devices that read Adobe DRM files. And the Kindle Reader does neither.
